Numerous road repair projects on tap throughout the UP

road work

MARQUETTE, MI— Several road projects are slated to start across the Upper Peninsula within the next few weeks.

On Saturday, the Michigan Department of Transportation will start patching concrete on US-41 south of Chassell between North Entry Road and Wilson Memorial Drive in Houghton County. Repairs should be completed by the end of September.

Single-lane closures on the US-41 Menominee River Bridge between Marinette and Menominee will start Monday. Crews will perform bridge deck sealing, which should be finished by August 23.

M-28 in Kenton in Houghton County will be narrowed to one lane on Monday for storm sewer replacement. On September 3, motorists should expect one lane of alternating traffic on US-141/M-28 east of the Rock River in Baraga County’s Covington Township. Both those projects should take a couple of days to complete.

And preventive maintenance will be done on the US-2 bridge over the Escanaba River in Delta County, starting Monday. The estimated end date is September 6.
