Baraga, Keweenaw county road work to start Monday

Nicole Walton

BARAGA AND KEWEENAW COUNTIES, MI— Maintenance on US-41 in Baraga and Keweenaw counties will require lane closures starting Monday.

Shoulder gravel maintenance will be performed on the US-141/M-28 intersection to Dog Patch Road and from north of Assinins to south of Kelsey Road in Baraga County. Drivers should expect one lane of alternating traffic with controllers. Work is expected to be completed by September 19.

A temporary traffic signal will control alternating lanes of traffic on US-41 southwest of Lake Medora Road in Keweenaw County’s Grant Township. Workers will update guardrails and install rip rap for erosion control. That project is expected to be completed by September 20.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
