USS Marinette to be commissioned in Menominee September 16th

U.S. Navy

MENOMINEE, MI— A littoral combat ship named for the City of Marinette will be commissioned in Menominee next month.

The future Freedom-variant LCS USS Marinette (LCS 25) will join the active fleet on September 16th. It will be the newest littoral combat ship to join the Surface Force.

It’s the first naval warship named after Marinette, Wisconsin and the third naval vessel named for the community. The Navy says its name recognizes the contribution of Marinette and the great shipbuilders who bring the ships to life.

Following commissioning, the USS Marinette will transit to its home port of Mayport, Florida.
