Lost bicyclists found in Schoolcraft County

SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY, MI— Two people who went missing while on a bike ride in Schoolcraft County Friday have been found.

The Alger County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 5:20 p-m that a 74-year-old man and his 53-year-old daughter were riding in the Straits Lake area and had become lost. They were able to call 911 and request assistance.

A U.S. Forest Service officer and Department of Natural Resources officer were dispatched to the area. They found the woman, but her father had ventured further into the woods.

A deputy and K-9 “Alger” were brought to the scene and found the man about 40-minutes later.

The father and daughter were both in good condition.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
