MICHIGAMME TOWNSHIP, MI— Two hikers who got lost in the McCormick Wilderness Area in Michigamme Township Saturday were located early Sunday morning.
Around 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies and Marquette County Search and Rescue were dispatched to find two overdue people who were hiking the North Country Trail.
The last known location of the hikers was south of Lake Raymond. Teams hiked the trail and searched surrounding roads.
At about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, members of the Search and Rescue team and K-9 Trace found both hikers a few miles from their last location. They were extremely cold and wet but declined medical treatment.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is reminding all people who venture outdoors to be safe and prepared.
