MDOT closing UP roadside parks next week

MARQUETTE, MI— All roadside parks operated by the Michigan Department of Transportation in the Upper Peninsula will close for the season on Tuesday, October 26.

MDOT maintains 32 roadside parks in the U.P. They close annually in late October and reopen in late April.

In addition, the southbound I-75 rest area just north of St. Ignace will close for the season on December 1. That rest area is closed for the winter due to reduced use and safety concerns.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
