Northern Arts & Culture: Dan Cook at Zero Degrees Gallery

Dan Cook

Acrylic paintings of the Marquette shoreline landscape

Dan Cook is the guest artist at Zero Degrees Gallery for the month of September 2022.

He is the former owner of Cook Sign Service and now does acrylic paintings. He has painted signs since he was 17 and now paints scenes from the Marquette area in his retirement. His grandfather started Cook Sign Service in 1936 and his father worked in the business until his retirement. Dan with his wife Marilyn built up the billboard business along with commercial signs. Through his time working in the sign business, Dan took note of the shorelines and now focuses on capturing the harbors of the Marquette area through his creative work.

Kurt lives in Marquette with his family and can’t imagine living anywhere else. He loves music, games, running, being near water, and a fine cold brew coffee.
