Heartwood Trio coming to the Keweenaw Sept. 29 & 30

A conversation with trio member Sarina Partridge

If you've ever wondered what an isolated area can do to creativity, then you'll be curious to hear from the Heartwood Trio.

The three musicians (Heidi Wilson, Sarina Partridge, and Willy Clemetson) met in 2019 while singing and teaching in the group Northern Harmony and decided they wanted to embark on a nature-informed project of their own. They explore wild landscapes and compose music, which then is shared with the community through performances and community workshops. They will embark on the Heartwood Keweenaw Tour, with a Community Singing Workshop on Friday, September 29th in Atlantic Mine, and a concert the following day in Calumet.

Kurt Hauswirth chatted with Sarina Partridge, one of the members of the Heartwood Trio:

They will present their unique perspective on music, landscape, and isolation in the Keweenaw at the end of September. Find more information and tickets at heartwoodtrio.com.

Kurt lives in Marquette with his family and can’t imagine living anywhere else. He loves music, games, running, being near water, and a fine cold brew coffee.
