Heard of "Midwest emo?" Its punk, indie, and math rock influences can be found in the sound of quite a few Upper Great Lakes bands, one of which is making moves after starting during the pandemic lockdown period.
Hailing from corners of the Upper Peninsula, The Casper Fight Scene is a 4 piece band with a lot of character throughout. The grungy local Marquette band has made headway across the state, playing with bands such as "Saturdays At Your Place," out of Kalamazoo, as well as fellow Marquette bands such as “Addicus” and “Small Comforts.” Their music-making journey has brought them to sign with No Sleep Records, an independent label out of California, in August of 2023. The band started in the wake of quarantine in 2020, as the group combined to pass the time inside. Taking a piece of inspiration from early 2000s punk rock and Midwest emo vibes, the group has grown to hold a strong staple in the Midwest emo community across Michigan.
