June Jamrich passes away

MARQUETTE, MI--   Former Northern Michigan University First Lady June Jamrich has died.

She was married to former President John X. Jamrich and became involved with students and the community during his tenure. June Jamrich said she was committed to involving students in activities that would strengthen their social connections and networking skills while expanding their horizons. She was among college and university first ladies nationwide who sought a more substantive purpose when they accompanied their husbands to annual meetings. June even served as instructor of figure skating.

June was with her husband when the new Jamrich Hall was dedicated in 2014.

She passed away Monday at her home in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 95.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
