2015 sled dog race results

MARQUETTE, MI--   Ryan Anderson of Ray, Minnesota has won the UP200 Sled Dog Race for a record fifth time.

Anderson crossed the finish line in Marquette’s Lower Harbor Sunday at 1:38 p.m.  He was followed by Laura Neese of McMillan, Michigan at 2:02 p.m. and Frank Moe of Hovland, Minnesota at 2:30 p.m.

Mushers battled blizzard conditions Saturday as they braved sub-zero temperatures, frigid wind chills and high winds.

Kris Sampson of South River, Ontario was the first of the Midnight Run mushers to roll into Marquette Saturday morning.  The first teams are normally expected around 8:30 a.m., but the blizzard delayed their arrival by a few hours.  Sampson arrived at 11:07 a.m., followed by Joanna Oberg of Ignace, Ontario at 11:16 a.m. and Joann Fortier of Gaylord, Michigan seven seconds later.

The winner of the Jack Pine 30 in Gwinn Saturday was Al-Jo Thiart of Magnusson Racing of Brownstown, Michigan.  In second place was Gerhardt Thiart of Magnusson Racing, followed by Jerry Trudell of Calumet.
