Alston man with dementia missing in Houghton County

HOUGHTON, MI--   The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a missing man who has dementia.

Deputies responded Friday around 1:15 a.m. to Laird Township on a report that Howard Maki, 80, of Alston could not be found.

Maki was last seen June 7 in Hancock. He was driving a 2001 silver Isuzu Trooper.

Maki is described as approximately 6 feet tall and 175 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding Maki’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office at 906-482-0055.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
