"America Our Way: An American Songbook Story," a benefit concert with Michael Shirtz

Brenda Knipp / Event Facebook Page

Michael Shirtz is no stranger to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, or to the music of the Great American Songbook.  That is why he and the Michael Shirtz Quartet are putting on a concert; The Marquette Regional History Center’s Concert Fundraiser: "America, Our Way: An American Songbook Story," promises to take you through 100 years of music in 90 minutes.

Kurt Hauswirth spoke with Michael Shirtz in advance of the concert regarding how he and his bandmates will make this concert happen:

Michael Shirtz's America Our Way takes place on June 16th starting at 7pm at the Forest Roberts Theatre on the campus of Northern Michigan University.  An afterglow with the band will take place at the Casa Calabria after the show.  For more details, please visit the Facebook Event Page.

Kurt lives in Marquette with his family and can’t imagine living anywhere else. He loves music, games, running, being near water, and a fine cold brew coffee.
