Arrest made in Alpha murder case

MADISON, WI--   The Iron County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a suspect in connection with the death of an Alpha woman.  

The night of June 23 deputies were called to a residence on a report of a possible murder/suicide.  Jamie Lee James, 29, was found dead at the scene. 

An Alpha man was also found in the house.  He was taken to Madison, WI, for treatment.

On Friday the man was arrested at UW Madison Hospital for James’ murder.  He is jailed and awaits extradition to Michigan. 

The Iron County Sheriff Office was assisted by the Crystal Falls Police Department, Michigan State Police, the University of Wisconsin Madison Police Department, and Iron County Central Dispatch.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
