Assault suspect headed to circuit court

ESCANABA, MI--   An Escanaba suspect has been bound over to circuit court on assault charges. 

Michael Jones, 22, is accused of being under the influence of alcohol when he assaulted two Escanaba men, broke van windows, and fled police. 

He’s charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing and eluding, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of malicious destruction of property, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Arraignment is set for March 9 in Delta County Circuit Court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
