Be an Angel for those with addictions

NEGAUNEE, MI--   The Michigan State Police Negaunee Post is looking for volunteers to help those with addictions get help.

Officials are asking people to assist with the Angel Program. It allows an individual struggling with an addiction to walk into any post without fear of being investigated or arrested.

Angel volunteers help MSP post personnel in locating the appropriate treatment option and with transporting the participant to a treatment center. Volunteers are reimbursed for mileage and meal expenses and, after 20 hours of service, receive an hourly stipend.  Angels will be trained by MSP personnel on their responsibilities and expectations.

The Negaunee Post will soon conduct training for Angel volunteers. For more information call the Post at 475-9922.
