MARQUETTE, MI-- Registration for this summer’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman program is now open.
It’s the 20th time the Department of Natural Resources has hosted the event for women 18 and older who want to improve their outdoor skills. BOW coordinator Sharon Pitz says it’s a non-competitive program where each person learns at her own pace in an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.
BOW offers instruction in more than two dozen activities, including kayaking, wilderness first aid and survival, lake and fly fishing, and geocaching. Participants stay and take their classes at Bay Cliff Health Camp near Big Bay.
Becoming an Outdoors Woman will be held June 2-4. For information and registration materials, go to Michigan.gov/BOW, or call Pitz at 228-6561.
