Northern Michigan University invites applications for a Business and Community Support Coordinator. The position developss and maintain relationships and personally call on businesses, organizations and individuals in the WNMU service area to solicit underwriting sales in support of the production, broadcast, streaming and podcasting of local and national programming aired on WNMU-FM and TV, as well as support for print, digital and other station events and activities. Maintain and expand business from current sponsors.

Minimum qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent. Two years' relationship-based outside client sales experience and proven record of meeting and exceeding goals. Demonstrated experience of excellent customer service.

Knowledge/skills/abilities required: Ability to establish and maintain distance/virtual relationships. Demonstrated experience in the successful management of large numbers of client relationships. Demonstrated enthusiasm with planning and organizing sales and fundraising campaigns. Possess the following personal characteristics: self confidence, creativity, extroverted personality, team oriented, diplomatic, customer-service oriented, and a self-starter with demonstrated initiative. Ability to work independently. Computer skills, e.g., word processing, presentation, email, spreadsheets, web-based applications and database. Presentation skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The position is traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with some evening and weekend work required; grant ending 6/30/18. The salary is $20,800 plus 15% commission.

Hans Ahlström is the host of several programs including the daily musical variety show Weekday, the mostly straight ahead jazz show Night Studio, the self explanatory Blues Today, and the eclectic Sound Spectrum. He also helps manage Public Radio 90's web content, interviews local and visiting writers and artists, works with NMU student interns, and writes the occasional news story.
