Calumet vying for Hockeyville USA title

CALUMET, MI--   Calumet is a finalist in the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest.

The town is one of four to make the cut to the final round. Public voting will determine which community will receive $150,000 in rink upgrades and an opportunity to host an NHL game.

Calumet residents nominated the Colosseum. Built in 1913, it’s the oldest indoor ice arena in the world. The rink’s architecture has not been updated since.

The Colosseum has won $10,000 for making the final four. Residents will start voting for their favorite town Saturday at 7 a.m. Voting closes Sunday at 11 a.m.
