Cambensy named assistant House floor leader

LANSING, MI--   109th State House District Representative Sara Cambensy has been named assistant House Democratic floor leader for the current legislative term.

Cambensy will be working directly with Democratic floor leader Yousef Rahbi of Ann Arbor to direct Democrats’ legislative priorities during session. She says she’ll be involved in weekly meetings to discuss potential bills coming to the floor. Cambensy says it’s an opportunity for her to advocate for rural areas and residents.

Cambensy previously served on the Agriculture, Local Government, and Natural Resources committees.

Before her election to the Michigan House Cambensy worked for the Marquette Area Public Schools as director of adult education and served as a city commissioner from 2012 to 2017.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
