Car crashes into barriers near Marquette Walmart

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in a rollover crash in Marquette Township Saturday.

Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies say it happened around 12:50 a.m. on US-41 West in front of Walmart. They say a driver struck temporary traffic barriers put in place by the Michigan Department of Transportation for construction of a new roundabout.

The driver was evaluated at the scene but waived any further medical attention.

Upon further investigation the driver was arrested for operating under the influence of an intoxicating liquor. Texting while driving is also suspected of being a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
