Checker bus rear-ends passenger vehicle in Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   Several people were injured when a bus hit a car in Marquette Monday.

City Police were called just before 4 p.m. to Wright Street near Industrial Drive. An eastbound passenger car was stopped at a pedestrian crosswalk when it was rear-ended by a Checker bus containing 37 Northstar Academy students. Two of the students reported injuries, but neither sought treatment.

The car contained three Ishpeming teens, who were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The bus driver, JoAnn Carlisle, 46, of Marquette, was cited for failure to stop with assured clear distance.

 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
