Chocolay crash injures one person

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Wisconsin woman has been ticketed for causing a traffic crash in Chocolay Township.

Wednesday around 10:30 a.m. Township Police responded to the intersection of US-41 South and Silver Creek Road. Investigation shows a southbound Chevy Equinox driven by a 51-year-old woman from Wisconsin ran a red light and struck a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Marquette woman.

The Wisconsin woman was taken to UPHS-Marquette for what are believed to be minor injuries. She was cited for disregarding a red light.

The Chocolay Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
