Chopper helps MGH patients get quicker help

valleymedflight.com

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette General Hospital now has a quicker means of responding to medical emergencies with the addition of an air ambulance service.

An affiliation between MGH and Valley Med Flight out of Iron Mountain, a helicopter will be stationed in Escanaba and will provide round-the-clock medical transportation to residents of the U.P.

MGH doctors say they’ll be able to provide advanced care in a fraction of the time it’s normally taken.

Valley Med is the sole owner of the business and the hospital is not subsidizing the cost of the service.  Instead, MGH is acting as a Valley Med emergency transport affiliate location.

Valley Med also operates a fixed-wing air medical base in Iron Mountain.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
