Coronavirus case confirmed in Menominee County

MENOMINEE, MI--   The first confirmed positive COVID-19 case is being reported in Menominee County.

Bay Area Hospital notified Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties of the infected woman Thursday. No other details were released. Close contacts of the woman are being identified and evaluated.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Dickinson County rose to three Thursday. The person is being treated at Dickinson County Health System. Officials say the number of positive cases is expected to rise.

The Upper Peninsula is now reporting 44 confirmed cases—two of them prison inmates—and five deaths.

As of 5 p.m. Thursday the state said 21,504 cases have been confirmed and 1,076 people have died.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
