UP coronavirus cases up by 5

MARQUETTE, MI--   Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Upper Peninsula Tuesday.

Houghton, Menominee and Iron counties each had one and Marquette County reported two. As of Tuesday afternoon 918 cases of the coronavirus were lab-confirmed in the U.P. Eighteen people have died of COVID-19. 

At Northern Michigan University officials are waiting on the results of only 12 coronavirus tests. Of the 7,697 tests administered 36 returned positive. They include three employees, nine off-campus students, and 24 on-campus students.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
