Court hearing set for Pembine murder suspect

MARINETTE, WI--   A preliminary hearing is set for a Pembine, Wisconsin man accused of killing his wife.

WLUC-TV reports Gary Rogge, 55, claims he accidentally shot Shelley Rogge, 63, while they were drinking and playing shooting games. Her brother is disputing that claim, saying Shelley didn’t like guns.

A bar apparently recorded Rogge and his wife drinking and arguing the night of the incident.

Shelley died of a single gunshot wound to the chest. Officials say the gun was against her chest when it discharged.

Rogge’s preliminary exam is set for February 13. He remains lodged in the Marinette County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
