Crash injures one in Dickinson County

WEST BRANCH TOWNSHIP, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital after a vehicle hit a tree in Dickinson County Saturday.

Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post responded around 11:20 p.m. to County Road 581 near Cady Creek Road in West Branch Township. Troopers determined the driver failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and struck a tree.

The male driver was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. The female passenger was not injured.
Officials say alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
