Crash in Negaunee Township

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   No serious injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash in Negaunee Township Sunday night.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. on US-41 near Midway Drive.  A Dodge Caravan driven by Kayla Houghton, 25, of Marquette pulled out of Midway Drive and into the path of a westbound Ford truck driven by Donald Mroz, 65, of Republic.

Both vehicles were totaled.  Possible minor injuries were reported by a passenger in the pickup.  Two passengers in the van were young children, who were properly restrained.

Houghton was cited for failure to yield right of way.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
