Crash with road grader injures Gwinn woman

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Gwinn woman has been injured in an accident with a road grader in

Negaunee Township.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post say the crash happened Tuesday around 9 a.m. on County Road 480 just outside the Negaunee city limits.  They say Kayla Gilstorff, 23, of Gwinn was eastbound when she rear-ended a Marquette County Road Commission grader plowing the road.  She said morning sun had blinded her and she didn’t see the vehicle.

Gilstorff and her 3-year-old passenger were taken to U.P. Health System Marquette.  She was treated for a broken leg, but the child was not injured.

The driver of the grader, William Vedder, 55, of Ishpeming, was not injured, either.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
