Daughter of Earth Day founder resigns from Wisconsin state job

MADISON, WI (AP)--   The daughter of Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson has resigned from her job with the state of Wisconsin following a dispute over the causes of climate change.

The Wisconsin State Journal reported Tuesday that Tia Nelson has resigned as public lands administrator to take a new science and education position with a Madison-based foundation.

Nelson has served as executive secretary to the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands since 2004.

In April, the board voted 2-1 to ban Nelson and her staff from on-the-job discussion or work related to climate change. The staff previously removed a reference to climate change from its website in response to complaints from a board member, state Treasurer Matt Adamczyk.
