DCHS to try settling with creditors out-of-court

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   Dickinson County Healthcare System is not considering filing for bankruptcy at this time.

Officials say they’ve retained former Congressman Bart Stupak and restructuring partner Andrew Currie of the law firm Venable, LLP. The Washington-based firm will represent DCHS in its effort to negotiate an out-of-court settlement with its creditors.

Officials say the goal of the restructuring efforts is to work with the hospital’s creditors for a lasting solution to the system’s financial challenges and to maximize performance operationally and financially.

The hospital will be open and will continue to provide health services during the restructuring process.
