Dickinson County man jailed in Wisconsin for drugs

MIDDLE INLET, WI--   A Kingsford man has been arrested in Wisconsin on drug charges.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office stopped the 44-year-old for speeding Tuesday in the town of Middle Inlet.

The deputy reportedly smelled marijuana in the car and asked the driver to get out of the vehicle.  When the suspect stood up a baggie of what was suspected to be cocaine fell out of his pant leg.  A brief struggle ensued between the deputy and driver when the suspect tried to destroy the baggie.  At that point another baggie of suspected heroin fell out of the driver’s other pant leg.

Deputies also found marijuana, hash, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and remains lodged in the Marinette County Jail.  His name has not been released, pending arraignment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
