Dozens of new COVID-19 cases confirmed in UP

MARQUETTE, MI--   Health officials reported 90 new coronavirus cases in the Upper Peninsula Wednesday—the highest single-day total since the pandemic began.

The number of cases per county are as follows:

  • Alger-2
  • Delta-29
  • Dickinson-2
  • Houghton-30
  • Iron-7
  • Mackinac-3
  • Marquette-7
  • Menominee-7
  • Schoolcraft-3

Three people died of the virus.
The Forest Park School District in Crystal Falls is closed for the rest of the week because of COVID. Superintendent Christy Larson says two staff members, one long-term substitute and two students tested positive for coronavirus.

Larson says there will be no in-person classes, no virtual classes and no extracurricular activities Thursday or Friday. That will allow the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department to conduct contact tracing.
