Driver cited for Humboldt Township crash

HUMBOLDT TOWNSHIP, MI--   A L’Anse woman was ticketed by police following a single-vehicle crash in Humboldt Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Friday around 3:15 p.m. on US-41 West near County Road FNO. The vehicle was headed west when the car began to hydroplane due to excessive speed and water on the road. The car spun around, went down an embankment, and entered a wood line backwards.

Two females were trapped in the vehicle. Rangers from Van Riper State Park were dispatched with chainsaws to remove trees.

The passengers were taken to UPHS-Bell for treatment of minor injuries.

The 20-year-old driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
