Drug suspects arrested in Baraga County

L'ANSE, MI--   Two Baraga County residents were arrested on drug charges last week after their vehicle went into a ditch on US-41.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team says the suspects were northbound just south of L’Anse on Thursday when their vehicle slid off the road in icy conditions and hit the ditch. No one was injured.

UPSET detectives identified the driver and passenger as suspects involved in a four-month-long drug investigation in the area. Both were arrested and numerous prescription pills were seized.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence on Zeba Road and seized approximately 10 grams of crystal meth, numerous prescription pills and evidence of drug distribution.

The suspects were lodged at the Baraga County Jail on charges related to the distribution of crystal meth, prescription pills and cocaine.  One suspect is currently on federal probation for prior drug and weapons charges.
