Eckerman man arraigned for assault with a dangerous weapon

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   An eastern U.P. man is jailed on a felonious assault charge.

On February 9 troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post were called to a Chippewa County tavern after a patron wouldn’t leave. Investigation revealed the 27-year-old patron wanted to speak to police to report he had been assaulted.

The man sought his own treatment for a small laceration.

Sixty-two-year-old Rex Hyrns of Eckerman was arrested. He was arraigned Monday on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
