Eggs sold in several U.P. counties recalled

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A farm in Manistique is recalling eggs that may be contaminated with Salmonella.

WLUC-TV says LaBar Poultry Farm issued the recall when environmental sampling as part of a foodborne illness outbreak detected Salmonella Enteritidis at the farm.

The affected eggs are in one-dozen cartons labeled with LaBar Poultry Farm and either August 30, 2017 or September 30, 2017. They were sold to restaurants, grocery stores, and directly to consumers in Alger, Delta, Dickinson, Luce, Mackinac, Marquette, Menominee, and Schoolcraft counties.

Those who have purchased the eggs are urged to throw them away immediately.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
