Escanaba man killed by firearm

ESCANABA, MI--   The Escanaba Public Safety Department is investigating the death of a man in the city.

Thursday around 1:10 a.m. officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 400 block of South 14th Street on a report of a gunshot. Upon arrival officers discovered a man with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Officials say at this point, foul play is not believed to be a factor in the case, which remains under investigation.

Escanaba Public Safety is being assisted by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
