Escanaba police find woman unconscious in parked car

ESCANABA, MI--   A woman was arrested after she was found slumped over her car steering wheel in an Escanaba parking lot Monday evening.

Public Safety officers found the vehicle on the 400 block of North Lincoln Road around 7:30 p.m. They were able to wake the woman up and found she was under the influence of drugs.

Officials say a number of small bags of suspected cocaine were found. They also discovered prescription medication that didn’t appear to be prescribed to the suspect in the vehicle.

The woman – identified as Shannon Stevenson, 42 – was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of analogues.

She was lodged at the Delta County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
