Escanaba student expelled for making threat

ESCANABA, MI--   A student who threatened to shoot up Escanaba High School has been permanently expelled.

WLUC-TV reports the school board voted unanimously for the action Monday night.

Escanaba Public Safety officers took the student into custody last Wednesday afternoon after the threat was made. The student was subsequently lodged at Bay Pines and faces charges in probate court.

Since the incident the high school has locked all its doors and is screening those who want to enter.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
