Escanaba traffic stop nets drugs, money

ESCANABA, MI--     One person has been arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop in Escanaba. 

Officers from the Department of Public Safety made the stop Monday around 10 p.m. on the 300 block of North 16th Street.  The vehicle contained three men and two women.

Investigation uncovered an undetermined amount of suspected heroin, crack cocaine, and marijuana.  Officers also discovered a large amount of money. 

One unidentified man was arrested and lodged in the Delta County Jail on drug-related charges.  The money was seized and the vehicle towed from the scene. 

Officers were assisted by a Public Safety K-9 and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
