Fast driver causes Calumet accident

CALUMET, MI--   Three people were injured in a multiple-vehicle accident in Calumet Friday.

State Police from the Calumet Post say the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on US-41 at Boston Road.  A 19-year-old Hancock man was southbound when he came upon a slower SUV driven by a 55-year-old Hancock man that was also southbound.  The teen’s vehicle rear-ended the SUV, sending it into a northbound vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Calumet woman.

All three drivers were taken to Portage Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The first driver was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
