Federal hearing set for Sadowski

MARQUETTE, MI--   A preliminary hearing on firearms charges is set in Marquette Federal Court this week for Jason Sadowski.

The Ishpeming man was exonerated on seven felony counts after the Michigan Court of Appeals ordered a new trial on charges he tortured two women at his martial arts studio.

Immediately after the not guilty verdict was announced Sadowski was taken into custody on behalf of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. A federal complaint filed last Wednesday states Sadowski was a felon in possession of a firearm after a gun was found in his home in 2013. He’s also accused of transporting it across state lines.

A preliminary hearing is set for Friday in Marquette Federal Court.  A detention hearing is set at the same time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
