Fire consumes detached Wells Township building

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI--   A pole barn was destroyed by fire in Wells Township over the weekend.

The Escanaba Department of Public Safety was dispatched Sunday around 5:30 a.m. to a residence on G.5 Lane and found the detached structure fully engulfed.

Officers spent two hours on the scene. The building and its contents are considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department and Delta County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
