Fire destroys Franklin Township home

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Houghton County home is a total loss, following a fire Sunday.

The Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 3:20 a.m. to Sampson Street in Franklin Township. No injuries are reported.

The Quincy, Franklin, Hancock Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the City of Hancock Fire Department. Also assisting were the Hancock Police Department, Houghton Police Department, Michigan Tech Public Safety, UPPCO, and SEMCO.

The Pigs-n-Heat Fund is helping with temporary lodging.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
