Fundraising starts for Ishpeming art park

ISHPEMING, MI--   A crowdfunding campaign for an art park in Ishpeming has been launched.

If the Patronicity campaign reaches its $6,000 goal by December 15 the project will win a matching grant through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Public Spaces Community Places program.

The Marquette County Land Bank is assisting in the effort, which would place student artwork and a greenspace in vacant lots near Ishpeming High School.

Ishpeming advanced construction students are creating a gazebo for the art park as part of their curriculum. Student artwork is displayed on panels that match the Iron Ore Heritage Trail signage. The campaign will provide for the completion of the art park with benches, more art panels, a trash receptacle and more landscaping.
