Governor makes appointment to UP Energy Task Force

Superior Watershed Partnership

LANSING, MI--    Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed an Upper Peninsula woman to the U.P. Energy Task Force. 

Tonya Swenor of Marquette is the energy assistance program manager for the Superior Watershed Partnership. She assists low-income families with energy bills and household energy efficiency programs.

Swenor replaces Emily Leach, who resigned.

The next meeting of the task force is Tuesday, October 1 in Sault Ste. Marie. It begins at 10 a.m. at the Walker Cisler Student and Conference Center at Lake Superior State University. The morning session will focus on shutoff rules and the types of assistance available for propane customers and related issues. The afternoon portion of the meeting will be a listening session to gather comments from the audience.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
