Hancock man facing multiple child pornography charges

HOUGHTON, MI--    A Hancock man has been arrested for possession of child pornography.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigated the online activity of Michael Schreiber, 34. Officials say he had been downloading and distributing child sexually abusive material at his home since October 2018.

Schreiber was arrested June 18 and charged with one count of child sexually abusive activity, three counts of possession of child sexually abusive material, three counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of surveilling an unclothed person.

Schreiber was arraigned June 19. Bond was set at $20,000 cash/surety.

The task force worked with officers from Michigan Technological University, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, and the Hancock City Police Department.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
