Humboldt Township man assaulted during home invasion

HUMBOLDT TOWNSHIP, MI--   An 82-year-old man was assaulted after someone broke into his Humboldt Township home Tuesday. 

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post were dispatched to the residence around 11:30 p.m. They say a suspect entered the house, assaulted the man, stole some property, and fled the scene.

The homeowner was taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of his injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted by the Iron Mountain Post’s K9 unit, the Marquette Crime Lab, and UPHS emergency medical personnel.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
